What Should I Restore First: Strength or Range of Motion?

 

Always Range of Motion!  When someone has an injury, they have tears, adhesions or things they are trying to heal up. There’s a window in recovering from an injury during which we need to restore full range of motion. The longer it takes to get full range of motion back the more difficult it becomes later on.   Restoring your full range of motion helps to increase mobility, flexibility and reduces risk of further injury. You can always build strength over time by increasing resistance or load, but range of motion must come first.
